Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Zachary Andrew McEntyre serves as a partner at the law firm of King & Spalding LLP. Focused on class-action defense, Zachary Andrew McEntyre has handled suits for clients in various industries, including consumer finance. In 2017, King & Spalding released a client alert about an arbitration agreements rule issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The rule was opposed by many US banks and business groups. Proponents argued that the rule made it easier for consumers to join together in class-action suits against financial companies. Opponents argued that the rule would lead to an increase in class-action litigation against financial services firms. Following the corporate pushback, the US Senate, with Vice President Mike Pence voting to break a 50-50 tie, repealed the rule in a vote on October 24. In November, President Donald Trump made the repeal official by signing a resolution passed by both Republican-led houses of Congress under the Congressional Review Act. In signing the resolution, the president nullified the CFPB rule and rejected an appeal to keep it in place.
